Koivun Eyes Maiden PGA Tour Title with Three-Shot Lead at 3M Open

Jackson Koivun heads into the final round of the 2026 3M Open with a commanding three-shot lead after producing another spectacular display at TPC Twin Cities. The 21-year-old PGA Tour rookie sits at 20-under par after firing a bogey-free 10-under 61 in Saturday's third round, earning the first 54-hole lead of his professional career.

Koivun's brilliant round featured two eagles and six birdies, including a tournament-record 28 on the back nine. The former world No. 1 amateur made decisive gains with eagles on the 12th and 18th holes, turning a tightly packed leaderboard into a clear advantage heading into Sunday's championship round.

Emiliano Grillo and Ben Kohles share second place at 17-under after both carded flawless rounds of 65. Kohles, who led after the opening round, remained within striking distance, while Grillo stayed in contention after finishing strongly with an eagle on the closing hole.

Michael Kim, who produced the 15th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history with a sensational 59 during Friday's second round, begins the final day at 15-under. Although he slipped back with a one-over 70 on Saturday, Kim remains one of several players capable of mounting a late charge.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler also moved into contention after a six-under 64 in the third round. His impressive back-nine 29 included a remarkable 55-foot eagle from the rough on the par-four 16th hole, leaving him six shots behind the leader at 14-under entering the final round.

Koivun will tee off in the final pairing alongside Grillo at 1:40 p.m. ET, while Scheffler begins his challenge at 12:50 p.m. ET with Brian Harman. Michael Kim and Billy Horschel are scheduled to tee off at 1:10 p.m. ET, with Kohles paired alongside Michael Brennan at 1:30 p.m. ET.

The rookie also has the opportunity to rewrite the tournament record books. A final-round score of 66 or better would take Koivun beyond the 24-under tournament scoring record established by Lee Hodges in 2023.

Sunday's final round promises an exciting finish as Koivun attempts to complete a remarkable breakthrough victory only weeks after turning professional following the U.S. Open. A victory would cap a rapid rise for one of golf's brightest young talents after an outstanding collegiate career at Auburn University and a successful transition to the PGA Tour.
