Kenya’s Kanana Muthomi has emerged as the leading contender for individual honours at the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), setting up an intriguing final-round contest at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
Muthomi’s consistency over the opening 36 holes has placed her at the top of the individual standings, giving Kenya a strong chance of securing the individual title.
South Africa’s Charlotte Millard and Botswana’s Loapi Chokwe are joint third on 159, while Tanzania’s Neema Olomi occupies fifth position with 160.
Kenya’s Bianca Ngecu is sixth on 162, with Nigeria’s Diana Osmond next on 163.
Another Nigerian, Ehinomen Juliana, is joint eighth on 164 alongside Uganda’s Keisha Kagoro and South Africa’s Lourenda Steyn.
Osmond and Juliana will be seeking improved performances in the final round as they attempt to strengthen Nigeria’s presence in the individual competition.
However, South Africa remain firmly in control of the team event, having extended their lead after the second round.
The defending champions returned a combined score of 309 after 36 holes to consolidate their position at the top of the standings.
Kenya are second with 316, while Tanzania occupy third position on 325.
Hosts Nigeria are fourth with 327, followed by Botswana on 336 and Uganda on 338.
Zambia are seventh with 340, while Tunisia, Zimbabwe and Ghana occupy eighth, ninth and 10th positions with 347, 348 and 349 respectively.
The final round will therefore present contrasting challenges, with South Africa seeking to protect their team advantage while Kenya pursue a double triumph in the team and individual events.
The week-long championship has attracted female golfers from more than 20 African countries, providing a platform to promote competitive golf, friendship and the development of women’s golf across the continent.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, officially declared the 2026 AACT open on Tuesday, with the championship scheduled to conclude with the final round today.
As the competition reaches its decisive stage, attention will remain on Muthomi’s bid for individual glory and South Africa’s efforts to retain their team title. Nigeria will also look to Osmond and Juliana to deliver stronger final-round performances and improve the hosts’ representation in the individual standings.
