Kaduna will host a crucial second phase of the 2026 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) from May 29 to May 31, with seven clubs battling for valuable points in the race for Super Four qualification.
The competition, scheduled to take place at the Murtala Muhammed Square during the Sallah celebrations, is expected to produce intense action as teams fight to strengthen their positions on the league table.
Participating clubs include league leaders Kada BSC, Kebbi Fishers BSC, BAM Projects BSC, Ibom BSC, Jigawa Golden Stars BSC, Niger BSC, and defending champions Anambra Warriors BSC.
Attention will be on Kaduna-based Kada BSC, who currently sit top of the standings after an impressive outing during the first phase held in Kebbi in March. The hosts lead the table with 10 points, holding a six-point advantage over Kebbi Fishers BSC and BAM Projects BSC.
Despite Kada BSC’s dominance so far, experienced sides such as Kebbi Fishers BSC and reigning champions Anambra Warriors BSC are expected to mount serious challenges as the competition enters a decisive stage.
Kebbi Fishers BSC remain the most decorated club in the league’s history, having lifted the title three times in 2021, 2023, and 2024, while Kada BSC won the crown in 2022. Anambra Warriors BSC secured their maiden title last season.
Speaking ahead of the Kaduna phase, President of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) and National Coordinator of the league, Mahmud Hadejia, expressed confidence that fans would witness exciting matches throughout the event.
“We are expecting another thrilling phase in Kaduna because all the participating teams are fully prepared and determined to fight for victory,” Hadejia said.
He added that the Nigeria Beach Soccer League had continued to serve as an important platform for discovering and developing beach soccer talents across the country.
Anambra Warriors BSC coach, Chinedu Okeke, said the defending champions were determined to protect their title despite increasing competition from rival clubs.
“Every club wants to beat the champions, so we must stay focused in every match. We are coming to Kaduna with the mentality of defending our crown,” he said.
Jigawa Golden Stars BSC coach, Usman Bello, described the Kaduna phase as a defining moment in his team’s quest to reach the Super Four finals, while BAM Projects BSC coach, Emeka Nwosu, promised entertaining encounters for supporters.
Head coach of Kada BSC, Ibrahim Musa, also expressed confidence in his players’ ability to maintain their lead and make home supporters proud.
The 2026 campaign marks the sixth edition of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League since the competition was introduced in 2021.
With the stakes higher than ever, the upcoming matches at Murtala Muhammed Square will play a pivotal role in deciding which teams advance to the next level of national dominance. Fans can look forward to top-tier tactical battles as these seven clubs leave everything on the sand in pursuit of beach soccer glory.
