The Nigeria Beach Soccer National Team, Sand Eagles, have received a morale boost from the Kaduna State Government ahead of their decisive 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana.
The state government expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure qualification as the players prepared to travel to Ghana for the return leg against the Black Sharks.
Director of Sports Development in the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development, Hassan Buba, delivered the message on behalf of the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Ben Kure, during a farewell visit by the team before their departure on Thursday.
Buba explained that the commissioner was unable to meet the players personally because of another official engagement outside the state but had sent his goodwill message to the contingent.
He urged the players and officials to remain disciplined, focused, and determined throughout their stay in Ghana, while assuring them of the state government’s support.
“I extend to you the good wishes of the Honourable Commissioner, who would have loved to see you personally as you depart from Kaduna.
“He wishes you all the very best as you go to Accra for the return leg match, and he is confident that you will earn the ticket to qualify for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations,” Buba said.
He further encouraged the team to approach the encounter with confidence, offering prayers for a successful outing and expressing optimism that the players would return home victorious.
“We are solidly behind you in spirit, even though we cannot be physically present in Ghana. We are praying for you, and you will return victorious,” he added.
The Sand Eagles head into the return fixture following a 3-3 draw in the first leg, leaving the qualification contest finely poised ahead of the decisive encounter.
Nigeria will therefore be seeking a strong performance against the Black Sharks to secure their place at the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.
The Kaduna State Government’s message adds to the encouragement surrounding the team as they pursue a place among Africa’s leading beach soccer nations.
