England's Justin Rose remains confident that he can add another major championship to his career achievements as he prepares to compete at the India Championship in Delhi. The 46-year-old is making his first appearance at the tournament, which begins on Thursday at Delhi Golf Club, where he will face a strong field of international players.
Among those competing are six-time major champion Rory McIlroy, defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and reigning Open Championship winner Ryan Fox. Rose will be looking to finish the year strongly after struggling to maintain his best form since claiming a tied-third-place finish at the Masters earlier in the season, where he held the lead heading into the final nine holes on Sunday.
Rose's only major victory came at the 2013 US Open at Merion Golf Club. Despite recording eight additional top-five finishes in major championships since then, he has yet to secure another title. The Englishman believes he still has the ability to compete for golf's biggest prizes and remains motivated to achieve that goal.
Speaking ahead of the opening round in Delhi, Rose explained that adding another major trophy remains an important ambition, but his motivation extends beyond winning. He wants to create lasting memories through competing in the sport's biggest moments, whether challenging for a major title on the final day or representing Europe at the Ryder Cup.
Rose believes his ability to adapt to demanding courses remains one of his biggest strengths as he competes against a new generation of golfers. He highlighted the importance of course management, tactical decision-making and mental resilience, particularly at Delhi Golf Club, where narrow fairways and challenging conditions can make accuracy more valuable than distance.
The Englishman is confident that his driving remains strong enough to keep him competitive, provided he continues to make smart decisions around the course. His experience in major championships and other high-pressure tournaments could prove valuable as he looks to return to winning form.
The India Championship also gives Rose an opportunity to experience Indian golf for the first time as a professional. He last visited the country around 22 years ago for a skins tournament near New Delhi and is looking forward to returning.
Rose also spoke about his friendship with former England cricket international Kevin Pietersen, who is expected to attend the tournament. With his enthusiasm for cricket well known, the golfer joked that he might even try his hand at batting or bowling during the week.
The tournament, scheduled for October 15-18, offers Rose another opportunity to test himself against an elite international field. Although a second major remains his ultimate ambition, he will first aim to make a strong impression on his India Championship debut.
