In a bold and commendable move aimed at rewarding hard work, excellence, and philanthropy, the Kogi State Sports Council has reappointed Jibril Ojih Saidu (FNIQS) as Chairman of the Kogi State Handball Association for another term.
The appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the Director of Sports, Akowe Sule Adejoh, and made available to the press on July 4, 2025.
Mr. Jibril Ojih Saidu, a frontline candidate for the President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria and the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Handball Association, expressed deep gratitude to the Kogi State Government. He praised the visionary leadership of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and the youthful and vibrant Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, for their support and commitment to sports development.
A Fellow of the National Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Nigeria, Saidu also extended heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Akowe Adejoh, his predecessor Mr. Obakachi Onipe, and the staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the State Sports Council for recognizing his efforts and standing by the truth during critical moments.
Speaking to the Association's media team, Saidu promised to continue contributing to the growth of handball and sports in general in Kogi State. He also urged handball stakeholders and delegates across Nigeria to support his presidential ambition in the upcoming Handball Federation of Nigeria elections in September 2025, emphasizing unity and collaboration for the sport’s national growth.

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the reconstitution of the management board of Kano Pillars Football Club as part of efforts to strengthen the team for the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
This follows the expiration of the previous board’s one-year tenure, during which the team finished 9th on the NPFL table.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, extensive consultations with key stakeholders led to the decision to reappoint most of the existing board members, with strategic modifications to enhance performance.
New Management Board of Kano Pillars FC:
In a significant development aligned with international best practices, the board also proposed the appointment of renowned international footballer Ahmed Musa, OON, MON, as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars FC. This strategic move aims to leverage his wealth of experience and leadership qualities to transform the club into a strong contender in the upcoming NPFL season.
The Kano State Government expressed strong confidence that the restructured board, under its new leadership, will build on past successes and deliver improved results in the 2025/26 campaign.
