Jaden Schaper Fires Bogey-Free 64 to Take Alfred Dunhill Championship Second-Round Lead

Posted : 12 December 2025

Jaden “Mr Precision” Schaper delivered a spectacular bogey-free eight-under-par 64 on Friday at Royal Johannesburg, navigating blustery morning conditions to take the clubhouse lead in the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

The 24-year-old South African started his round on the 10th hole, birdying four holes on the back nine before adding another four on the front to finish with a strong, fast-paced finish.

Through 36 holes, Schaper is 13-under 131, holding a three-shot lead over nearest competitor Danie van Tonder, who posted 134. Fellow South African Louis Oosthuizen sits at 10-under.

Schaper’s performance follows a strong showing at last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, where he finished joint second alongside England’s Don Bradbury, just one shot behind winner Kristoffer Reitan of Norway.

Reflecting on his round, Schaper noted a slow start in the opening round of the tournament.

Known for his precise ball-striking, Schaper combined excellent approach shots with sharp putting to compile his round.

On the par-5 sixth, he faced a challenging 12-foot birdie putt after a long approach over water—and sank it. At the par-5 eighth, he executed a delicate splash shot from a tricky greenside bunker, leaving himself a 15-foot putt, which he also converted for birdie.

With a flawless second round, Schaper now heads into the weekend in prime position to contend for the Alfred Dunhill Championship title.
