The 116th Investec South African Open will return to Stellenbosch Golf Club from March 4-7, 2027, continuing the tournament’s growing profile as one of golf’s leading national Opens. The event, which is the second-oldest national Open in the sport, will again be staged in the Cape winelands following a successful 2026 edition.
The championship will receive a significant boost next year, with its prize fund increasing to $2 million. The tournament remains part of the strategic partnership between the Sunshine Tour, DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, strengthening its role as a pathway for South African players to compete at the highest level.
The 2026 tournament marked an important milestone after the champion, Casey Jarvis, became the first winner in the event’s history to receive exemptions into both The Masters and The Open. Jarvis went on to finish tied for sixth at The Open, underlining the opportunities created by the championship.
The 2026 edition also delivered a major economic boost to the region, generating almost R300 million for the local economy and supporting around 400 jobs. Organisers said the tournament also produced significant value for sponsors, highlighting its growing importance beyond the golf course.
Investec has further demonstrated its commitment to South African golf by extending its title sponsorship of the men's and women's national Opens for another five years. The company said the renewed partnership is designed to support elite competition while helping develop the sport and create opportunities for future generations.
The 2027 qualifying programme will also expand, with Irene Country Club, Wingate Country Club and Waterkloof Golf Club in Pretoria joining the qualifying venues. A new Last Chance Qualifier will also be introduced in the Western Cape before the championship begins.
The return to Stellenbosch follows a successful 2026 tournament at the venue, where Casey Jarvis captured the national title. The course previously hosted the South African Open in 1999 and is regarded as one of the country's established championship venues.
