Hyo Joo Kim Stays Hot, Chases Third Straight Victory at Aramco Championship

Posted : 03 April 2026

Hyo Joo Kim has carried her outstanding form into the Aramco Championship in North Las Vegas, following an impressive run over the past two weeks. The South Korean golfer secured back-to-back victories on the LPGA Tour, narrowly defeating Nelly Korda on both occasions to underline her dominance.

Her first triumph came at the Fortinet Founders Cup in California, where she edged Korda by a single stroke to claim her eighth LPGA Tour title. She followed that performance by successfully defending her title at the Ford Championship in Arizona, finishing two shots ahead of the American to seal consecutive wins. These achievements have lifted Kim to a career-high third in the world rankings.

Kim has continued that momentum at Shadow Creek, opening the Aramco Championship with a four-under-par 68. Despite an early bogey, she quickly recovered and positioned herself just one shot behind a trio of leaders that includes Lauren Coughlin, Nasa Hataoka and Miyu Yamashita after the first round.

Her round was marked by resilience and consistency. After a slow start, she responded with back-to-back birdies and maintained steady play through the remainder of the course. Additional birdies on the front nine helped her reach four-under, extending her streak of rounds in the 60s and reinforcing her current rhythm on the course.

Kim credited her steady form to maintaining confidence and rhythm rather than any single standout factor. With growing expectations around her, including talk of a third straight victory, she remains focused on sticking to her usual approach and delivering her best performance each round.

This season has already been highly productive for Kim. Alongside her two wins, she has recorded a third-place finish in Thailand and a top-25 result in Singapore. Her success has been largely driven by exceptional putting, with her ranking among the best on tour in multiple putting and scoring categories, as well as leading key birdie statistics.

With three rounds remaining, Kim now has the opportunity to achieve a rare milestone on the LPGA Tour—a third consecutive victory. The last player to accomplish that feat was Nelly Korda in 2024, highlighting the significance of what Kim is attempting this week.

Although she has not historically excelled at Shadow Creek, her current form suggests she could challenge for the title once again. If she maintains her recent level of play, Kim could extend her remarkable streak and further cement her status as the standout performer of the 2026 season.
