The second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2024 has brought new energy to the National Institute of Sports in Surulere, Lagos, and the Rowe Park Sports Center in Yaba, Lagos.
The second half of the top-tier handball league in the country, proudly sponsored by Ardova PLC, is scheduled to run from today, Wednesday, Nov. 27, to Dec. 8, when the league champions will be unveiled.
This follows the conclusion of the league's first phase, held earlier this year in Benin City, Edo State.

All 22 participating teams (12 male and 10 female) in the premier league have already arrived in Lagos ahead of the matches and are eager to resume the competition from where they left off in Benin City.
A technical meeting for all team officials, coaches, referees, and delegates will take place at the Rowe Park Sports Center, as announced by the Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mr. Almu Umar Lambu. The meeting will focus on reiterating the league's rules alongside other key discussions.
"It is important that all team coaches and officials attend the technical meeting as we will discuss the rules of the league, which align with the CAHB and IHF statutes," said Mr. Lambu.
In the men’s category, league leaders Tojemarine Academy will aim to maintain their lead in the second phase against seventh-placed Corrections Boys.
Tojemarine tops the table with 33 points, four points ahead of second-placed Rima Strikers, who will open their phase 2 campaign against De Defenders.
Niger United will look to salvage their league defense in a crucial encounter against Sunshine Kings, who are currently 10th on the table.
Other men’s matches include Adamawa Warriors facing Confluence Stars, while Lagos Seasiders Boys will clash with three-time champions Kano Pillars. Former champions Safety Shooters will take on Benue Buffaloes.
In the women’s category, defending champions Safety Babes, who remain unbeaten for over two years and lead the league with 27 points, will begin their phase 2 campaign against sixth-placed Rivers Queens. Defender Babes, second on the table with 23 points, will play fourth-placed Rima Queens.
Other women’s fixtures will see bottom-placed Bendel Dynamos starting their relegation battle against Delta Queens. Meanwhile, seventh-placed Seasider Babes will face COAS Babes, currently eighth on the table.
Former champions Plateau Peacocks, who sit in fifth place, will meet the experienced Imo Grasshoppers, currently third on the table.
