The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has taken a major step towards the digital transformation of the sport with the launch of HFN MatchVision, a platform designed to enhance match analysis, officiating and technical decision-making.
The new digital system brings live match statistics, video analysis, tactical review and automated reporting into a single platform for coaches, referees and statisticians.
Through the Live Match Centre, statisticians can manage the match clock, record goals, shots, fouls, cards and seven-metre throws while updating the public scoreboard in real time.
Coaches can also upload complete match recordings, annotate tactical situations, bookmark key moments and create training clips covering areas such as attack, defence, goalkeeping and set plays.
For referees, the platform provides tools for reviewing match incidents, cards and seven-metre decisions, while enabling them to generate detailed reports.
MatchVision further simplifies post-match analysis by automatically compiling performance reports containing scorelines, team statistics, leading performers, match events, bookmarks and video clips.
The platform also features a public live-scores page, allowing fans and officials to follow ongoing matches and access results in real time.
As part of the launch, the HFN is offering registered users a one-month free trial, with coaches, referees and statisticians able to sign up according to their respective roles.
Speaking on the innovation, HFN President, Mr Jibril Saidu Ojih (FNIQS), described MatchVision as a significant development for Nigerian handball.
“HFN MatchVision is a major step forward for handball development in this country. For too long, our coaches, referees, and statisticians have had to work without the kind of data and video tools that top handball nations take for granted.
“This platform changes that. It gives our technical crews the intelligence they need to make better decisions, develop players faster, and officiate with greater confidence,” he said.
Ojih also praised the Federation's ICT team for developing the platform internally, noting that the innovation was designed with the practical needs of Nigerian handball stakeholders in mind.
“I want to specially commend our ICT team for this innovation. What they have built rivals what you would find in far more resourced federations, and they did it with a deep understanding of what our coaches and match officials actually need on the ground.
“This is what happens when talent is given the room to innovate for the good of Nigerian handball,” the HFN president added.
He urged coaches, referees and statisticians affiliated with the Federation to utilise the free trial and integrate the platform into their preparations for upcoming league and championship fixtures.
MatchVision is currently available to registered users through the HFN platform, while live match scores can also be accessed through the Federation's public live-scores service.
