Herbert Takes Three-Shot LIV Golf UK Lead into Final Round at JCB

Lucas Herbert will take a three-shot lead into the final round of LIV Golf United Kingdom presented by JCB after overcoming difficult weather conditions during Saturday's third round at JCB Golf & Country Club in Rocester, England.

The Ripper GC star carded a three-under-par 69 in gusty conditions to move to 20-under for the tournament. Herbert's steady display preserved the advantage he built over the opening two rounds and kept him on course for a second wire-to-wire LIV Golf victory of the 2026 season.

Bryson DeChambeau remains Herbert's closest challenger after producing a four-under 68 to reach 17-under par. The Crushers GC captain will join Herbert in the final pairing on Sunday as he attempts to erase the deficit during the championship round.

England's Tyrrell Hatton strengthened his hopes of a late title challenge with an excellent five-under 67. The Legion XIII player sits alone in third place at 15-under, five shots behind Herbert, while still keeping himself within striking distance if the leaders falter.

The standout performance of the day came from Cameron Smith, who delivered one of the most memorable rounds in LIV Golf history. The Ripper GC captain fired a six-under 66 to climb into fourth place at 14-under after producing eight consecutive birdies on the back nine.

Smith's remarkable birdie streak equalled the LIV Golf record for the most consecutive birdies in a single round, matching the mark previously set by Sebastián Muñoz. He also needed only nine putts across the back nine, establishing another league record during his spectacular finish.

Reflecting on his extraordinary run, Smith admitted everything came together during the closing stretch as confidence and momentum carried him through one of the finest scoring sequences of his LIV Golf career.

The team competition also remains firmly under the control of Ripper GC. Herbert and Smith have helped their Australian side build a commanding nine-shot lead at 41-under par, with Crushers GC in second place and Legion XIII third at 29-under.

Sunday's final round is expected to present an even tougher examination, with stronger winds forecast to sweep across the JCB Golf & Country Club. Gusts of up to 34 mph could make scoring considerably more difficult and place a greater emphasis on course management.

Despite the challenging forecast, Herbert remains well positioned to secure another LIV Golf title. However, with DeChambeau applying pressure and Hatton and Smith still capable of making a late charge, the battle for both the individual and team championships promises an exciting conclusion.
