Henry Pollock Set to Seek Improved Northampton Deal as Eddie Hearn Values Star at £1m a Year

England and Northampton Saints forward Henry Pollock is expected to push for a significantly improved contract as negotiations over his future gather pace. His representative, Eddie Hearn, believes the 21-year-old has developed into one of rugby's most valuable young talents and argues that his market value now justifies annual earnings of around £1 million.

Pollock's current agreement with Northampton, signed in late 2024 and due to expire in 2027, is reportedly worth about £150,000 per season. Since then, his profile has risen dramatically after breaking into the England team, touring with the British and Irish Lions and playing a key role in Northampton's run to the Investec Champions Cup final before helping the club secure the Premiership title.

Hearn said Pollock's influence extends beyond his performances on the pitch, pointing to his growing popularity among supporters and his commercial appeal. He believes the back-row forward boosts ticket sales, television audiences and merchandise revenue, making him one of the sport's most marketable players and deserving of a salary that reflects that impact.

Northampton, however, could face challenges in meeting those financial expectations because of the Premiership's salary cap. The club must also balance contracts for several other England internationals, including Fin Smith, Tommy Freeman and Alex Mitchell, while maintaining a competitive squad.

Previous decisions, including allowing captain George Furbank to leave, have highlighted the financial pressures involved in retaining emerging stars.

Recent salary cap data indicates that Pollock's current earnings remain below the average salary for established Premiership back-row players and internationals.

Although Bath fly-half Finn Russell is believed to be among the league's highest-paid players, only a handful of clubs are considered capable of offering contracts approaching the seven-figure mark, with Newcastle Red Bulls and Bristol among those that could potentially compete financially.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Pollock remains one of English rugby's brightest prospects. His continued development, combined with his growing commercial profile, is expected to make him one of the most closely watched players in upcoming contract negotiations.
