Harry Konig Holds Narrow Lead at Betway Big Easy Tour in Soweto

Posted : 18 September 2025

England’s Harry Konig carries a slender one-stroke advantage into the final round of the seventh leg of the Betway Big Easy Tour at Soweto Country Club. Konig built on his opening 67 with a second-round 70, finishing two-under for the day and seven-under overall, edging out South Africa’s Jaden Deltel by a single shot.

Konig’s round featured a mix of consistency and resilience. After six consecutive pars, he dropped a shot on the seventh but responded with a birdie before the turn. He continued his momentum with a birdie on the 10th, a par-save on the 11th, and successive birdies on 12 and 13, only giving back a stroke on the 15th before closing with three pars.

Reflecting on his performance, Konig noted the challenges posed by firm, windy conditions and emphasized his strategy of staying close to the greens and positioning accurately around the flags.

The Englishman is chasing his second title of the season, having previously won at Glenvista. He remains focused on the challenge ahead, acknowledging the competition and expressing confidence in his ability to secure another victory. Trailing by just one stroke, Deltel is eager to claim his first title on the Sunshine Tour’s development circuit, having narrowly missed out at the season opener.

Other contenders include Wandre Snyman and Brandon Pieters, tied at five-under, with Joe Sullivan, Dillon Germishuys, and American Austin Cherichella close behind. The Betway Big Easy Tour, supported by the legendary Ernie Els, continues to serve as a key platform for emerging talent in professional golf.
