Harry Konig Holds Narrow Lead Amid Tough Conditions at Betway Big Easy Tour #2

Posted : 22 May 2025

Harry Konig held onto his lead after the second day of the Betway Big Easy Tour #2 at Glenvista Country Club, despite facing difficult weather conditions including strong winds and cold temperatures. Konig kept a steady hand throughout his round, finishing with an even-par 72. His scorecard featured two bogeys, a double bogey, and four birdies, leaving him seven-under for the tournament and just one stroke ahead of his closest competitors.

Joe Sullivan emerged as the day’s standout, shooting an impressive six-under 66 to move closer to the top of the leaderboard. After a mixed front nine that included two birdies and two bogeys, Sullivan dominated the back nine with four birdies and an eagle, significantly boosting his position. Meanwhile, defending champion Lyle Pedro managed a level-par 72 despite the tough conditions, maintaining a position within striking distance for the final day.

Joe Knox also made a strong move with a four-under 68, securing solo fourth place at four-under for the tournament. Just behind him, a group of seven players—including Haydn Porteous, Tomas Gana, Tristan Leonard, Jacques van der Merwe, Brandon Gildenhuys, Wandre Snyman, and local favorite Louis Liebenberg—shared fifth place at two-under. With the leaderboard tightly packed, the competition is set for a thrilling conclusion.

The Betway Big Easy Tour acts as a development platform for rising talent aiming to graduate to the Sunshine Tour, with support from golf icon Ernie Els and others. The tournament’s challenging conditions are testing emerging players’ skills, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive final round.
