Hannah Green has etched her name into Australian sporting history. The world No. 7 overcame some erratic play on Sunday to win the 2026 Australian WPGA Championship at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club on the Gold Coast by four shots, finishing 16 under par.
The victory completed a remarkable three-week run. It followed her Australian Open triumph in Adelaide and her seventh LPGA Tour title at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore. No Australian golfer, not even the legendary Karrie Webb with her 56 career titles and seven majors, had ever won three consecutive tournaments on international tours.
Green began the final round holding a two-shot lead. She was wayward off the tee at times, giving the chasing pack a glimmer of hope, but her main challenger, Germany's Alexandra Forsterling, could only close to within two strokes before Green steadied to secure a comfortable win. South Africa's Casandra Alexander tied for second with Forsterling at 12 under.
The final round was not without nerves. "I three-putted 12 and I was like, 'OK, I don't know where I stand,'" Green admitted after the round. Earlier in the week, she had spoken candidly about the pressure of arriving as the clear favourite: "I definitely feel like I'm probably putting more pressure on myself as I am obviously on such a hot run," she said.
The 29-year-old had deliberately turned down two LPGA Tour events to remain in Australia and compete on home soil. At the Women's Australian Open the previous week, she became the first Australian since Karrie Webb in 2014 to win her home open; a result that also helped her climb two spots in the world rankings. The WPGA title was her first on the Ladies European Tour.
The $600,000 event was co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour and drew comparisons to Nelly Korda's dominant run of consecutive wins in 2024, underlining just how rare a three-tournament streak is at the elite level of women's golf.
Green will now fly to the United States on Monday. She will chase a fourth straight title at the $4 million Aramco Championship in Las Vegas from April 2, followed by the JM Eagle LA Championship in Los Angeles, an event she won in both 2023 and 2024.
