Gregorio De Leo will take a narrow one-shot lead into the weekend at the Turkish Airlines Open after another low-scoring round at the National Golf Club in Antalya. The Italian posted a bogey-free back nine to finish with a 68 and set the clubhouse target at seven under par.
Despite ideal playing conditions for the second consecutive day, scoring remained competitive as several players positioned themselves within striking distance of the lead. A group of challengers sits just one shot behind, including Sam Bairstow and Kazuma Kobori, while Alejandro Del Rey and Jens Dantorp briefly shared the top spot before slipping back.
De Leo, who is chasing his first DP World Tour title, credited his caddie for helping him adapt quickly after arriving at the event without a practice round. He described the partnership as crucial in navigating an unfamiliar course and managing expectations during a challenging week.
The Italian’s round featured a strong start with early birdies, and despite a brief setback on the front nine, he recovered with further gains to stay ahead of the field. He highlighted his putting performance as a key factor in maintaining his position at the top of the leaderboard.
Among the closest challengers, Del Rey remains the only player in the group with a DP World Tour victory, while Dantorp and Bairstow continue to search for their maiden wins. Kobori, also in contention, showed encouraging form with a strong back nine and remains confident after a breakthrough rookie season last year.
With several players still in contention and only a small margin separating the leaders, the tournament remains wide open heading into the weekend rounds, setting up a tightly contested finish in Türkiye.
