Friday Abah Leads Kogi Table Tennis Prodigies To African Youth Championship

Highly respected table tennis strategist Friday Abah has been officially named to Nigeria's national technical crew. He will help lead the country's youth delegation to the highly anticipated 2026 African Youth Table Tennis Championship in Accra, Ghana. Abah currently serves as the Technical Director of the Kogi State Table Tennis Association.

The veteran coach will be accompanied by four exceptional junior players from Kogi State who successfully made the final national roster. The selected athletes include Joseph Victor, Sezuo Ize, Samson Joshua, and Joseph Marvelous. They all earned their places in Team Nigeria following a rigorous national trials camp held at Babcock University in Ogun State.

Two other promising players from the state, Friday Agnes and Joseph Dominion, missed out on final selection. They were part of the initial training camp but did not make the trip to Ghana. The final four athletes have been in excellent form, previously dominating various domestic youth championships.

Abah is widely celebrated across the country for his immense tactical brilliance and grassroots player development. He is expected to provide vital guidance to help the national team navigate the tough continental tournament. The specialized tournament features the finest young table tennis talents from across Africa competing for major titles.

Team Nigeria will go into the competition with massive expectations of claiming multiple medals in Accra. The team features a balanced blend of rising young stars and highly experienced coaching staff. The players are currently wrapping up their final training routines before departing for the tournament.
