Four South Africans Chase DP World Tour Cards at Rolex Grand Final

Posted : 29 October 2025
JC Ritchie, Daniel van Tonder, Jovan Rebula, and Wilco Nienaber represent South Africa at the HotelPlanner Tour’s Rolex Grand Final.

The Sunshine Tour’s next generation of stars will have a defining week in Spain, as four South African golfers — JC Ritchie, Daniel van Tonder, Jovan Rebula, and Wilco Nienaber — compete at the HotelPlanner Tour’s Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A. The event takes place at the Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca, where players will battle for a chance to earn their DP World Tour cards for next season.

The top 20 players on the Road to Mallorca Ranking after the Grand Final will secure playing rights on the DP World Tour, marking a major step forward in their professional careers.

Leading the South African contingent is JC Ritchie, who tops the season’s rankings. Ritchie has already guaranteed his spot on the DP World Tour thanks to an outstanding season that included three tournament victories, earning him automatic promotion.

Daniel van Tonder, currently 11th in the standings, is also virtually assured of his place on the Tour. His consistent performances, including early-season wins at the SDC Open and MyGolfLife Open — both co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour — have cemented his strong position.

“I’ve been very consistent this season, and that has been the most satisfying part for me,” said Van Tonder. “I’ve played on the DP World Tour before, and this time I’ll go in with more confidence — just trusting myself.”

Meanwhile, Jovan Rebula and Wilco Nienaber find themselves just outside the qualifying spots, in 22nd and 29th place respectively. Both players will need strong finishes this week to secure their DP World Tour cards.

“Starting the year with no status, it feels great to be here now with a real chance to earn my card — that’s been my goal from the beginning,” said Rebula. “It’s a high-stakes week, but that’s what makes it special. The course suits me well, and it’s fantastic to have four South Africans in the field. Hopefully, we can all make it through.”

Nienaber echoed his compatriot’s optimism, confident in his preparation and form.

“I feel good about my game and the work I’ve put in. I know this course, which helps,” said Nienaber. “This week could go either way — a top-10 finish might be enough, or maybe not, depending on others. But I’m at peace with where I’m at, and if it’s going to turn around, why not this week?”

With Ritchie and Van Tonder almost certain to qualify, all eyes will be on Rebula and Nienaber as they aim to join them on the DP World Tour, potentially adding four more South Africans to the top tier of international golf.
