Young Nigerian footballers will have an opportunity to attract international attention as scouts and football representatives from six European clubs converge on Lagos for a three-day talent identification programme beginning on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The programme, scheduled to run until Saturday, Oct. 31, at Inspire Field, Cappa, Oshodi, is designed to connect emerging talents with international opportunities and potential pathways into professional football.
CV Sports Management Network Global Talent Agency is organising the initiative in partnership with Myron Sports Consulting Limited.
The event will feature scouts, football agents, and sporting directors associated with clubs from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Latvia.
The participating clubs are SK Prostějov, FK Mladá Boleslav, SK Kladno, and 1. FK Příbram of the Czech Republic, FKM Banská Bystrica of Slovakia, and BFC Daugavpils of Latvia.
Twelve youth teams from different parts of Nigeria are expected to participate, with activities scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. daily.
The organisers said the programme would provide a platform for young players to demonstrate their abilities before international football representatives, potentially opening doors to professional contracts abroad.
Tochukwu Chijioke, the programme coordinator, said the initiative was driven by the need to create opportunities for talented Nigerian youngsters to progress beyond grassroots football.
“Nigeria is blessed with a lot of football talents. This is our little way of discovering some of those talents and giving them the pathways of becoming professional footballers,” Chijioke said.
He added that the organisers had been running similar initiatives for some time, noting that several players had used the platform to secure professional contracts overseas.
The programme is expected to strengthen links between Nigeria’s grassroots football system and international talent identification networks while giving participating players exposure to the demands and expectations of professional football.
For the young footballers, the three-day event represents an opportunity to showcase their potential, impress visiting scouts, and take an important step towards pursuing careers in international football.
