Egan Bernal Suffers Collarbone Fracture in Crash at Clasica Jaen-Paraiso Interior

Egan Bernal, the former Tour de France winner, suffered a collarbone fracture during the Clasica Jaen-Paraiso Interior in Spain, after a crash in the race's closing stages. The 28-year-old Ineos Grenadiers rider, who was feeling strong throughout the event, expressed disappointment over the crash but remained positive about his performance, which gave him confidence for the season ahead. Despite the injury, Bernal is motivated to continue working hard and aims to return soon.

 

This crash comes just 11 days after Bernal claimed victory in Colombia's national individual time-trial championships, marking his first win since a near-fatal crash in January 2022.

 

The crash, which occurred during a training session near Bogotá, left Bernal with severe injuries, including back, leg, knee, and chest trauma, and required multiple surgeries. His recovery has been remarkable, and he has been gradually regaining his form.

 

While Ineos Grenadiers has not specified a timeline for Bernal's recovery, the rider remains determined to bounce back. His resilience and progress since the life-threatening crash in 2022 have impressed many, and he continues to look ahead to a promising season despite this setback.
