The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting and developing golf from the grassroots level, revealing plans to launch the Governor’s Cup soon.
Enabulele made the announcement during a meeting with Andy Momodu, Chairman of the Edo State Golf Association, and members of the association who visited his office in Benin City to show solidarity and present trophies won since the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Enabulele praised the association’s efforts, highlighting their close engagement with coaches and athletes.
“I sincerely appreciate your efforts. As a Commission, we ask only for your financial commitment and accessibility. We acknowledge your contributions so far,” he said.
He also congratulated the athletes for their achievements, emphasizing that the vision of the Commission is to develop grassroots sports, and it is encouraging to see the initiatives yielding results.
The Commission chairman assured the Edo State Golf Association of continued support and partnership in hosting major tournaments across the state, including the Governor’s Cup.
In response, Andy Momodu commended Enabulele for his visionary leadership and dedication to repositioning sports in Edo State, noting that Edo produces some of the best golf players in the country.
He highlighted recent successes, including Ehis Igbinadolor’s performance as first runner-up at the All Africa Challenge/Central Africa Championship, and shared his elevation as South-South representative on the Nigeria Golf Federation, aimed at strengthening regional collaboration.
