Posted : 19 May 2025

Dennis Dilli has emerged as the overall winner of Maj. Gen. Godwin Umelo (Rtd.)’s 60th birthday golf kitty in Abuja. The tournament, held in honour of Umelo’s milestone birthday, teed off on Wednesday and concluded Sunday night at the TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club, Abuja.

Dilli, who played off a handicap of 24, returned a gross score of 88 and a net score of 64 over 18 holes to claim the overall victory. Expressing his delight, he said, “It felt special because it is my first-ever win in a tournament.”

He attributed his success to consistency and integrity, adding, “I have been playing in many tournaments here at the club for a long time but had never won anything. Many friends discouraged me from continuing, but I refused to give up until I finally achieved my goal. My message to everyone is to keep playing fairly—it’s about being kind to yourself and your fellow players. You must also maintain integrity and sincerity in all you do.”
