Demi Vollering Seals Second Tour de France Femmes Title With Dominant Final-Stage Victory

Demi Vollering produced a stunning performance on the final stage of the Tour de France Femmes to secure her second overall victory in the race. The Dutch rider entered Sunday's decisive 99.2km mountain stage around Nice with an eight-second advantage over Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney before extending her lead dramatically with a solo attack on the Col d'Eze.

The FDJ-Suez rider made her decisive move on the final climb and continued to increase the gap on the descent toward Nice. Vollering crossed the finish line more than a minute ahead of her closest rivals, ultimately winning the general classification by 1 minute and 18 seconds over Niewiadoma-Phinney.

The final stage featured four ascents of the Col d'Eze and more than 2,000 metres of elevation gain, creating a demanding conclusion to the nine-stage race. Marlen Reusser, who began the day third overall, crashed during the stage and dropped out of podium contention.

Vollering's victory also delivered her third stage win of this year's Tour and her sixth stage victory across her Tour de France Femmes career. Her triumph adds another major achievement to a season that has already included overall success at the Giro d'Italia Women.

The victory came amid controversy surrounding Saturday's stage, when Niewiadoma-Phinney accused Vollering's teammate Célia Gery of obstructing her during the race. Vollering responded by emphasizing that she wanted her dominant final-stage performance to demonstrate that her team's success was earned through racing rather than the disputed incident.

Niewiadoma-Phinney nevertheless secured another podium finish, continuing her remarkable record of reaching the top three in every edition of the Tour de France Femmes. Elisa Longo Borghini completed the overall podium in third place.
