Bryson DeChambeau May Shift Focus to YouTube if LIV Golf Faces Uncertain Future

Posted : 06 May 2026

Bryson DeChambeau has suggested that his professional priorities could shift significantly if LIV Golf does not continue in its current form. The American golfer indicated he would place greater emphasis on developing his online content, particularly his YouTube channel, while only participating in tournaments that extend invitations to him.

Uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf has increased following reports that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) plans to withdraw its major financial backing by the end of the year. The development has raised questions about the long-term future of the breakaway tour, which has already disrupted the traditional golf structure since its launch in 2022.

DeChambeau, who is 32, recently denied speculation that he was preparing to leave LIV Golf early, describing such claims as false. However, his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and discussions had reportedly included a potential high-value extension before the funding announcement changed the outlook.

The two-time U.S. Open champion said he was surprised by the decision from Saudi officials, noting that he had believed financial support would continue for several more years. He also stated that he had not received direct communication regarding the shift in direction.

LIV Golf is now expected to seek new investment and restructuring under an independent leadership model. Since its creation, the league has attracted several top players from the PGA Tour with significant financial incentives, creating division within professional golf.

DeChambeau, who joined LIV Golf in 2022, previously declined opportunities to return to the PGA Tour earlier this year. He also stressed the need for unity and a more balanced approach within the sport, saying that personal pride should not stand in the way of golf’s overall growth.
