Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have emerged champions of the men's category of the 2026 Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League, while their women's team moved within reach of completing a double following Wednesday's Day 13 matches in Abuja.
The Customs men's team secured the championship after maintaining their unbeaten run with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sunshine Spikers, winning 25-10, 25-20, 25-10.
The result took their tally to 72 points from 24 victories, giving them an unassailable nine-point advantage over second-placed COAS Spikers with only one match remaining.
COAS Spikers also maintained their pursuit of a strong finish with a 3-0 triumph over NSCDC, taking the sets 25-20, 25-15, 25-15.
Attention now shifts to the women's competition, where Customs are equally on course for the title after overpowering Benue Queens 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-9).
The victory lifted the Customs women to 68 points, three ahead of COAS Spikers, who kept the pressure on with a 3-0 win over Olalomi Royal Angels (25-11, 25-14, 25-9).
The women's championship could therefore be decided by the league's tie-break regulations if both contenders finish level on points.
Elsewhere in the men's competition, defending champions CNS Spikers defeated UCEM VC 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-22), while Defence Spikers also swept Kano Pillars aside by the same margin (25-20, 25-22, 25-21).
Nigeria Correctional Service produced one of the day's most competitive performances, edging Offa VC 3-2 in a five-set encounter.
Correctional Service won the opening set 25-20 before Offa VC fought back to take the next two sets 27-25, 25-21. The former recovered to win the fourth 25-23 and clinched the decider 15-10.
Nigeria Police Force also recorded a straight-set victory over Ajase Ipo, winning 25-12, 25-19, 25-20.
In the women's category, CNS Spikers defeated Fire Service 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-16), while Excelsior VC overcame Kada Emeralds 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-17).
VIP Spikers also secured a 3-0 victory against Anambra Queens (25-9, 25-12, 25-12), while NSCDC defeated Life Camp VC 3-0 in a closely contested encounter, winning 25-23, 25-21, 30-28.
With the men's championship already settled, the final round of matches will determine whether Customs can complete a memorable double by also claiming the women's crown.
