The curtain will fall on the first phase of the 2026 Customs Comptroller General (CGC) Volleyball Premier League on Friday with a colourful closing ceremony scheduled for the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Abuja.
The event is expected to attract top dignitaries, including the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, and other key stakeholders in the nation's sports sector.
Ahead of the finale, Day 10 of the competition produced exciting contests across the men's and women's categories, with 12 matches decided.
In the men's division, NSCDC defeated the Nigeria Police Force in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-22), while UCEM VC overcame Ajase Ipo 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-16).
Kano Pillars edged the Nigeria Correctional Service 3-2 in one of the most entertaining matches of the day, claiming the decisive fifth set 15-12 after both sides shared the opening four sets.
Defence Spikers swept aside Offa VC 3-0, while COAS Spikers cruised to a dominant straight-set victory over Sunshine Spikers, winning 25-16, 25-13, and 25-7.
The Nigeria Customs Service capped off the men's fixtures with a 3-1 comeback win over defending champions CNS Spikers after dropping the opening set.
In the women's category, COAS Spikers recorded a 3-0 victory over Fire Service, while Lifecamp VC stunned Benue Queens 3-2 in a fiercely contested encounter.
NAF Rockets defeated Vipers Spikers in straight sets, NSCDC comfortably brushed aside Anambra Queens 3-0, and CNS Spikers also secured a convincing 3-0 win against Kada Emeralds.
The Nigeria Customs Service women's team rounded off the day's action in emphatic fashion with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Olalomi Royal Angels, underlining their impressive form ahead of the close of the competition.
The first phase of the league has delivered competitive action across both divisions, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion in Abuja. With top officials expected at the closing ceremony, the event will celebrate the achievements of participating teams while looking ahead to the next phase of the competition.
