World No. 6 Collin Morikawa has withdrawn from the PGA Truist Championship as he opts to rest and recover ahead of next week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink. The two-time major winner is managing recent injury concerns, including a back issue that forced him to exit The Players Championship earlier this year after just one hole.
Morikawa, who won the PGA Championship in 2020 and The Open in 2021, has experienced an inconsistent run of form recently. He returned to winning ways in February with a victory at Pebble Beach, ending a long title drought, but has since struggled to maintain momentum, finishing outside contention in several recent events.
Despite flashes of strong performances, including a top-10 finish at the Masters and other solid results earlier in the season, his ongoing physical issues have impacted his schedule. His latest decision reflects a cautious approach as he prepares for one of golf’s most important tournaments.
The PGA Tour field this week remains strong, led by World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, alongside top-ranked players such as Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young, Justin Rose, and Tommy Fleetwood, all using the event as final preparation before the season’s second major.
