COAS Spikers continued their impressive run in the 2026 National Premier Volleyball League with a dominant 3-0 victory over the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The Army side claimed the contest in straight sets, winning 26-24, 25-19, 25-15 to secure their third consecutive victory of the competition.
The latest triumph extends an unbeaten start for COAS Spikers, who had earlier defeated Kano Pillars 3-1 with scores of 25-17, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17 before overpowering Offa Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-20).
Assistant Coach Segun Abinde praised his players for their discipline and determination against a strong NSCDC side.
"We anticipated a difficult match, but the players rose to the occasion and delivered an excellent performance," Abinde said.
"This is a result we have been working towards for a long time. We thank God for the victory and appreciate the support from our fans and the management of COAS."
Abinde also credited the team's success to the healthy relationship between the players and the coaching staff.
"We are privileged to work with players who have great respect for the coaches, and we equally respect them. That understanding has contributed greatly to our performances," he added.
Elsewhere, Nigeria Customs Service maintained their strong form with a convincing 3-0 victory over Defence Spikers, taking the sets 25-22, 25-13, 25-19.
Customs coach Adamu Jonah attributed the result to thorough preparation and unwavering backing from the team's management.
"We take every match seriously and focus on one game at a time. This victory reflects the quality of our preparation and the support we enjoy from management," Jonah said.
Nigeria Police Volleyball Club also secured an important 3-1 win against Ajase Ipo Volleyball Club. The Police side won the opening three sets 25-19, 25-22, and 25-23 before Ajase Ipo claimed the fourth set 27-25.
Police coach Taiwo Oladipupo said his team remained focused despite the competitive nature of the league.
"Every team in this competition deserves respect. We have recorded two wins and one loss so far, and we remain positive about our prospects," he said.
In other fixtures, Nigeria Correctional Service defeated Life Camp Volleyball Club 3-1 with scores of 25-19, 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, while CNS Spikers cruised to a 3-0 victory over Sunshine Spikers, winning 25-15, 25-15, 25-17.
Kano Pillars bounced back from their opening defeat to record a straight-set victory over Offa Volleyball Club, winning 25-15, 25-17, 25-23.
A total of 12 teams are participating in the men's category of the league, which commenced on June 13 and will conclude on June 28 in Abuja.
The exciting round of fixtures highlights the intense competition and high level of tactical play defining the early stages of the championship. As the top contenders establish their dominance, the race for the league title continues to heat up. Volleyball enthusiasts can expect more thrilling action in Abuja as the tournament progresses toward its conclusion.
