CNS Spikers Wins 2025 NVBF Super Cup

CNS Spikers Volleyball Club emerged champions of the 2025 NVBF Super Cup after defeating Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) 3–1 (21–25, 25–18, 25–23, 25–17) in Abuja.

The match, played at the Indoor Sports Hall, Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Saturday, saw CNS Spikers recover well after losing the opening set.

Nigeria Customs Service took the first set 25–21, maintaining control in spite of strong resistance from CNS Spikers.

CNS Spikers responded emphatically in the second set, racing to an early 10–6 lead and extending it steadily to 21–13.

Encouraged by loud cheers, CNS Spikers dominated the set, closing 25–17 to level the match at 1–1.

The third set was highly competitive. CNS Spikers led 8–4 and later 16–9, but NCS narrowed the gap to 21–21, thrilling the crowd.

CNS Spikers held their nerve to win 25–23, taking a 2–1 lead in the match.

In the fourth set, CNS Spikers controlled proceedings from a 5–5 tie, surged to 16–11, and closed 25–17 to seal victory.

Speaking after the match, CNS Spikers captain, Seiyefa Dikiyai, praised the Chief of Naval Staff for unwavering support and team preparation.

“This is the result of proper preparation. The Chief of Naval Staff’s support was massive and motivated us throughout the camp.

“He personally championed our campaign. Everything was organised perfectly, and it worked for us,” he said.

Looking ahead, Dikiyai stressed the need for stronger preparation ahead of continental competition.

“We must prepare well. North African teams are technically strong. We will give our best to compete effectively,” he said.

Earlier, Nigeria Correctional Service beat Defence Spikers 3–1 (25–22, 25–18, 23–25, 25–23) to claim third place in the men’s category.

In the women’s final, Nigeria Customs Service defeated COAS Spikers 3–0 (25–8, 25–15, 25–10) to win the 2025 Super Cup women’s title.

CNS Spikers claimed the women’s bronze after a five-set thriller against Vipers Spikers (24–26, 25–21, 25–16, 17–25, 15–13).

The 2025 NVBF Super Cup began on Monday and concluded on Feb. 8, with 12 clubs competing in both men’s and women’s categories.
