Posted : 16 December 2025

Chairman of CNS Spikers Volleyball Team, Navy Capt. Mark Abashi, has revealed that the club is setting its sights on international competitions after securing top positions in the 2025 Comptroller-General of Customs Volleyball Premier League.

Speaking from Abuja, Abashi emphasized the team’s determination to maintain its dominance in the league for the upcoming season while seizing opportunities abroad that could boost performance, exposure, and competitiveness.

“We are ready to honour any opportunity given to the team, both locally and internationally,” Abashi stated.

CNS Spikers made history in the league, with the men’s team finishing first and the women’s team securing second place overall. In the women’s category, Nigeria Customs Service topped the table with 63 sets won, five lost, and 63 points. CNS Spikers women followed with 54 sets won, six losses, and 51 points, while COAS Spikers claimed third place with 52 sets won, 18 losses, and 51 points.

In the men’s standings, CNS Spikers emerged as champions with 63 sets won, 18 losses, and 60 points. Nigeria Customs Service men finished second with 62 sets won, 18 losses, and 57 points.

Abashi credited the team’s success to discipline, teamwork, dedication, and prayers. “We have learned valuable lessons and will continue to build and rebuild the team every year,” he said.

When asked about weaknesses, he declined to disclose specifics, noting that strategies were already in place to strengthen key areas. “I am not comfortable sharing our weaknesses, but we are reinforcing areas that need improvement,” Abashi added.

He also lauded the Chief of Naval Staff for unwavering support and commitment to the team’s progress and confirmed that the naval authority is willing to sponsor CNS Spikers for future competitions. “We will honour any opportunity given to the Nigerian Navy Volleyball Team,” Abashi concluded.
