Charley Hull Targets Ruthless Return After Strong Women’s Open Finish

Charley Hull is determined to rediscover the fearless edge she believes defined her early career after securing a tied-sixth finish at the AIG Women’s Open.

The English golfer entered the final round at Royal Lytham & St Annes with an outside chance of claiming her first major title but closed with a one-over-par 72 as Japan’s Shiho Kuwaki lifted the trophy following a dramatic playoff victory over Esther Henseleit.

Speaking ahead of this week’s PIF London Championship at Centurion Club, Hull admitted she wants to regain the ruthless mentality that helped establish her among the world’s best players.

She said confidence remains vital in golf, adding that players must trust their ability despite the inevitable highs and lows that come with competing at the highest level.

Hull's latest performance came during a week in which she attracted attention both for her golf and for defending a prank she played on her caddie.

Despite the off-course distractions, the world No. 6 produced several outstanding moments throughout the championship and believes her game is moving in the right direction as she prepares for another busy stretch of the season.

The 30-year-old is also preparing for her eighth Solheim Cup appearance after earning selection from European captain Anna Nordqvist.

As Europe's highest-ranked player, Hull acknowledges the added responsibility that comes with her experience but insists she remains relaxed on the course, preferring to lead by example while embracing the challenge of guiding a talented European squad.
