France’s Celine Boutier produced a composed and decisive final-round performance on Sunday to win the LPGA ShopRite Classic, sealing victory with a crucial birdie on the 14th hole. The 32-year-old moved into the lead with a 35-foot putt and held on to claim her seventh career LPGA title.
Boutier carded a five-under-par 66 in the final round at Seaview Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey, finishing the 54-hole event at nine-under 204. She secured a narrow one-shot win over Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol, while Ireland’s Lauren Walsh finished third, two strokes back. A group including Germany’s Polly Mack, Japan’s Chizzy Iwai, and South Korea’s Lee So-mi and Joo Soo-bin shared fourth place.
The French golfer made a strong comeback on the final day, erasing a four-shot deficit at the start of play. Her decisive moment came on the 14th hole, where she sank a long birdie putt to regain the outright lead, a position she would not relinquish.
Boutier’s triumph marked her first LPGA victory since the 2023 Maybank Championship in Malaysia and added to a career highlight that includes the 2023 Evian Championship, her only major title. She also won a Ladies European Tour event in Shenzhen in 2024 but had endured a winless spell despite consistent performances.
After her victory, Boutier expressed satisfaction at returning to the winner’s circle, describing the tournament as a special event where she has fond memories, including her comeback win in 2021.
The result capped a successful weekend for French sport, with other major achievements adding to the celebrations across the country. Boutier said she had sensed her game improving in recent weeks, even if she did not expect everything to come together so strongly during this event.
South Korea’s Joo Soo-bin briefly shared the lead after a birdie on the ninth hole but ultimately missed out on a maiden LPGA victory. Despite the disappointment, the 22-year-old world number 252 said she was proud of her performance in her first time leading a tournament.
Boutier will now turn her attention to next week’s US Women’s Open at Riviera, where she hopes to carry her winning momentum into one of the most prestigious events in women’s golf.
