Cameron Green Warns Against Complacency as Australia Eye Ashes Victory in Adelaide

Posted : 14 December 2025

Australia heads into the third Ashes Test at Adelaide Oval this week with a chance to seal the series, but allrounder Cameron Green has cautioned his teammates against becoming overconfident. Reflecting on England’s comeback in the last Ashes series, Green emphasized the importance of staying focused until the final delivery.

“In the last series, Australia led 2-0 in England before they won two of the final three Tests. That’s a good reminder for our team to stay really level,” Green said on Sunday. “You can sometimes look too far ahead, but this is a chance for us to finish the job properly.”

Australia has dominated the series so far, recording eight-wicket victories in Perth and Brisbane. England, on the other hand, has struggled on Australian soil, having not won a Test Down Under since their 2010-11 tour. Criticism has also mounted on the English team over perceived poor preparation and lack of fight.

The touring side faced additional scrutiny over a minor altercation at Brisbane Airport, where a security guard was caught on camera seemingly pushing a Channel Seven operator. Green expressed sympathy for the English squad, noting the difficulties of being filmed in public.

Meanwhile, Australia’s opener Usman Khawaja has declared himself fully fit after suffering back spasms earlier in the series. The 38-year-old missed the second Test and opened only briefly in the first, but could return to the top of the order depending on the selectors’ decision. Should Travis Head and Jake Weatherald continue opening, Khawaja would likely slot into the middle order, which might see Josh Inglis drop out of the lineup.
