The Caledonian Charity Cup will return to the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos on Friday, October 23, 2026, bringing together golfers, corporate organisations and supporters of the sport for an 18-hole charity tournament.
Organised by the Lagos Caledonian Society (LCS), the competition aims to raise funds for charitable initiatives and support vulnerable members of the community. The organisers have confirmed that all net proceeds from this year's event will go directly to Foster Paradise Homes, a Lagos State-registered orphanage that cares for orphans, abandoned children and vulnerable young people in urban and rural communities.
The tournament's return to Ikoyi Club 1938 reflects the Scottish tradition of combining sport, friendship and community service to support worthwhile causes. It also provides an opportunity for golfers and corporate partners to contribute to child welfare through a sporting event.
Twenty-five Teams Set for Competition
A total of 25 teams have registered for this year's tournament, highlighting the interest in both the competition and its charitable objectives. Each team is named after a Scottish town or location associated with golf, celebrating Scotland's rich golfing heritage.
The registered teams include Milngavie, Gullane, Carnoustie, Traigh, Aberdour, Dundee, North Berwick, Lossiemouth, Cruden Bay, Musselburgh, Askernish, Kirkcudbright, Shiskine, Auchterarder, Dalmahoy, Dornoch, Machrie, Lundin Links, Powfoot, Machrihanish, Monifieth, Kilspindie and Blairgowrie.
The tournament will use a shotgun start format, allowing all teams to begin play simultaneously from different holes across the course. The arrangement is expected to create an engaging atmosphere while ensuring an efficient and competitive round.
Awards Ceremony and Charity Auction
After the competition, players and guests will gather at the clubhouse for a celebratory luncheon, an awards ceremony and a live auction. Trophies and prizes will be presented to the winning teams, while the auction will provide another opportunity to raise funds for the designated charity.
The organisers expect the combination of golf, networking and fundraising to strengthen the tournament's community impact. The event also offers corporate participants an opportunity to support a charitable cause while engaging with fellow golfers and business leaders.
Corporate Support and Charitable Impact
The Caledonian Charity Cup has attracted support from corporate partners whose contributions are helping to deliver the event and advance its fundraising mission.
By directing the net proceeds to Foster Paradise Homes, the organisers aim to support the care and welfare of children who need safe accommodation and assistance. The initiative reinforces the role sporting events can play in mobilising resources for community development and social support.
The tournament's return to Ikoyi Club 1938 also continues the Lagos Caledonian Society's effort to preserve Scottish golfing traditions while using the sport to encourage charitable giving and community fellowship.
