Brooks Koepka Set to Return to PGA Tour

Posted : 13 January 2026

Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka will make an early return to the PGA Tour following the announcement of a new Returning Member Program on Monday.

Koepka had previously announced that he would part ways with LIV Golf despite having one year remaining on his contract with the Saudi-backed league. Initially, it was thought that former LIV players would need to sit out a full year before regaining PGA Tour eligibility.

However, in an open letter from PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, the conditions for immediate reinstatement were outlined, providing a clear pathway not only for Koepka but also for three other LIV Golf players: Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cameron Smith.

Koepka confirmed the news on social media, announcing that he will compete in the Farmers Insurance Open at La Jolla, California, from January 29 to February 1. He is also expected to play in the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona, the following week.

“When I was a child, I always dreamed about competing on the PGA Tour, and I am just as excited today to announce that I am returning,” Koepka said. “Being closer to home and spending more time with my family makes this opportunity especially meaningful.”

As part of the Returning Member Program, Koepka has agreed to forfeit participation in the PGA Tour’s equity program for five years—a decision estimated to carry a potential $50-85 million financial impact. He has also committed to a $5 million charitable donation. The program includes strict limitations on tournament access and earnings for returning members to account for compensation received while competing elsewhere.

Eligibility for the Returning Member Program is limited to players who have won a major or the Players Championship between 2022 and 2025. Koepka, DeChambeau, Rahm, and Smith are the only players currently meeting this criterion. The program will remain open through February 2, and the PGA Tour made no promises that it will be offered again in the future.

Rolapp emphasized that the initiative is designed to strengthen the tour and enhance the fan experience. “This is part of our commitment to fans, who expect the world’s best players to compete on the PGA Tour week in and week out,” he said.
