Brooks Koepka Leaves LIV Golf to Focus on Family

Posted : 25 December 2025

Brooks Koepka, a five-time major winner and one of the most high-profile golfers to join LIV Golf when the Saudi-backed tour launched in 2022, has decided to step away from competition for family reasons.

LIV Golf confirmed the news on Tuesday, with CEO Scott O’Neil stating that the decision was mutual and amicable. Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League following the 2025 season, as he aims to stay closer to home and focus on his family.

The 35-year-old American, who famously won back-to-back U.S. Opens in 2017 and 2018, recently endured a personal tragedy when his wife, Jena Sims, suffered a miscarriage in October.

His representatives emphasized that family considerations have always guided Koepka’s decisions, and he believes this is the right moment to dedicate more time to his loved ones. They added that Koepka remains supportive of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success.

Under existing rules, players leaving LIV Golf must serve a one-year suspension before being eligible to return to the PGA Tour.

While speculation about a Koepka comeback is growing, the PGA Tour has not provided a timeline, instead offering a statement wishing him and his family continued success and highlighting the tour’s competitive environment for professional golfers.
