Boo Weekley Ends 11-Year Drought with Dominant Insperity Invitational Victory

Posted : 11 May 2026

Boo Weekley ended an 11-year wait for victory with a commanding performance at the Insperity Invitational, securing his first Champions Tour title on Sunday in The Woodlands, Texas.

The American golfer carded a bogey-free 3-under-par 69 in the final round to finish at 15-under 201, sealing a three-shot win at The Woodlands Country Club. Despite not matching his earlier rounds of 66, Weekley maintained flawless consistency across all 54 holes.

The victory marked his first professional win since the 2013 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial on the PGA Tour. Weekley, who joined the Champions Tour in 2023, said he had not fully processed the significance of the achievement during the tournament but expected it would sink in later.

He described the win as an emotional moment and credited his faith and support system for helping him return to winning form after years without a title.

Weekley’s steady final round included a birdie on the second hole, followed by a long stretch of pars before closing strongly with birdies on the 15th and 17th holes to take control of the leaderboard.

He emphasized the difficulty of completing a bogey-free tournament, calling it a rare and satisfying accomplishment that he would remember as a personal milestone.

South Africa’s Ernie Els finished second at 12-under, one shot ahead at the start of the final round before a costly double bogey on the 17th hole ended his challenge. Despite bouncing back with a birdie on the final hole, Els could not close the gap.

Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke and South Korea’s Charlie Wi shared third place at 11-under, while Stewart Cink and Zach Johnson finished tied for fifth.

The result lifted Weekley 16 places to third in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, marking a major boost in his Champions Tour campaign.
