Bolaji Bounces Back in Style, Sweeps Peru Para Badminton International Gold

Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji produced a commanding display at the 2026 Peru Para Badminton International, powering her way to the women’s SL3 gold medal without dropping a game throughout the competition.

The world No. 2 capped her impressive campaign on Sunday with a straight-game 21-12, 21-12 victory over Brazil’s Kauana Beckenkamp in the final.

Bolaji’s route to the title was marked by remarkable consistency and dominance, beginning with a 21-7, 21-6 win over Brazil’s Maria Da Silva Abinaecia in the opening round.

She raised her game further in the second round, dispatching Croatia’s Gabriela Montero 21-2, 21-1 before continuing her ruthless run against Mexico’s Maria Rojas Peres in the semi-final.

The Nigerian star conceded only 15 points in the semi-final, defeating Rojas Peres 21-6, 21-9 to book her place in the final.

Her victory over Beckenkamp completed a flawless run in which she won every match 2-0, underlining her status as one of the leading players in the SL3 category.

The triumph also represented a strong response to her outing at the British and Irish International in June, according to Francis Orbih, President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria.

Orbih praised Bolaji’s determination and ability to recover from setbacks, describing the Peru performance as further evidence of her consistency.

“This performance has once again proven Eniola’s consistency and her ability to overcome challenges. She has shown great character and determination to bounce back strongly,” he said.

The federation president added that the Peru International forms part of Bolaji’s long-term preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

“The Peru International is part of our build-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, and performances like this are very encouraging as we continue with the preparations,” Orbih said.

He also expressed appreciation to GIG Logistics, Yonex and the National Sports Commission for their continued support of Bolaji’s development and international career.

The Peru triumph further strengthens the Nigerian’s momentum as she continues her preparations for another Paralympic campaign, with her latest title providing a timely boost to her confidence and ambitions.
