Ben Griffin concluded a breakout 2025 season in style, firing a final-round 9-under-par 63 to claim his third victory of the year at the World Wide Technology Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Sunday.
Griffin entered the day two shots behind South Africa’s Garrick Higgo but surged past the field with a remarkable stretch of five consecutive birdies from holes 8 through 12, overtaking Higgo and Carson Young to take the lead at 27-under-par. Par-3 holes proved pivotal, with Griffin sinking birdies on all four, including a precise 2-foot putt at the 9th and a long left-to-right bender at the 11th.
The 29-year-old had already enjoyed a remarkable 2025, claiming victories at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside teammate Andrew Novak and the Charles Schwab Challenge in the spring. His strong performances propelled him into the top 15 in world rankings, earned him a Tour Championship debut, and a captain’s pick for the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Griffin finished the tournament with 10 birdies and a single bogey, ending at 29-under-par 259 at El Cardonal Golf Course, two strokes clear of Finland’s Sami Valimaki (64) and Chad Ramey (65). Higgo, who started the final round in contention, slipped to a T4 finish alongside Trevor Cone (66) after shooting 68.
Off the course, 2025 has been equally memorable for Griffin, with his upcoming wedding to Dana Myeroff just weeks away. He expressed how much it meant to have his partner supporting him during the tournament and reflected on the unique year combining professional success with personal milestones.
Meanwhile, the tournament also had significant implications for players fighting to retain PGA Tour status. Ramey and Valimaki, both outside the top 100 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, moved up in the rankings with strong finishes. Ramey advanced from 123rd to 89th, while Valimaki climbed from 103rd to 76th, keeping their full Tour cards for the next season within reach.
Griffin credited his focus and strategy for the win, noting that he prioritized aggressive yet smart play throughout the round, targeting receptive pins and aiming to birdie the final holes to reach 30-under, sealing the victory.
