Auston Kim Fires 66 to Lead at HSBC Women’s World Championship

Posted : 27 February 2026

Auston Kim surged to the top of the leaderboard after an impressive opening round at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore.

Auston Kim delivered a superb start on Thursday, posting a seven-under-par 66 to claim the early lead at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. The American carded seven birdies and just one bogey to move one shot clear of China’s Liu Yan, who sits in second place.

Kim holds a two-shot advantage over a group of five players tied for third at 68, while six others are positioned at three-under 69, keeping the leaderboard tightly contested after the opening round at Sentosa Golf Club. Competitors had to contend with sweltering conditions, with temperatures reaching the high 80s alongside heavy humidity.

A member of the LPGA Tour since 2024, Kim has been closing in on her maiden title, having recorded eight top-10 finishes and finishing runner-up at last season’s KPMG Women's PGA Championship. The 25-year-old Vanderbilt alum credited her strong start to improved focus and mental preparation, saying she was pleased with how she executed her plan throughout the round.

Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen is among those tied at three-under after shooting level par on the front nine before collecting three birdies on the back. She emphasized patience as a key factor, noting the challenging pin placements required a cautious yet strategic approach.

Tour rookie Lindy Duncan also sits in the tie for third after mixing five birdies with a single bogey. She produced an accurate display, hitting 12 of 14 fairways and 15 of 18 greens in regulation, despite the demanding weather conditions. Duncan acknowledged there is still room for improvement but was satisfied with her overall performance.

Joining the tie for third are Linn Grant of Sweden, Miyu Yamashita of Japan, Haeran Ryu of South Korea, and Mimi Rhodes of England.

Defending champion Lydia Ko is four shots off the lead following a round of 70, while world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, fresh from a victory in Thailand last week, opened with a one-over 73.
