Angel Yin Claims Honda LPGA Thailand Title with Record-Tying Score

American golfer Angel Yin secured victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand with a record-tying 28-under-par, edging out Japan's Akie Iwai by a single stroke. Yin, who entered the final round with a five-shot lead, faced a strong challenge from Iwai but maintained her composure to claim the title.

 

Her winning total matched the lowest four-round score on the LPGA Tour since Lydia Ko's performance at the 2021 LOTTE Championship.

 

Iwai, making her debut season on the LPGA Tour after excelling in Japan, finished as the runner-up and described the tournament as a valuable experience. Thailand’s Jeeno Atthikul claimed third place with a final-round 66, while defending champion Patty Tavatanakit shared fourth with Moriya Jutanugarn.

 

 The tournament marked the beginning of the LPGA’s Asian swing, which continues in Singapore next week before heading to China in early March.

 

Yin expressed hope that her success would inspire young golfers, emphasizing her desire to mentor and set an example for the next generation. She was moved by the support from young fans at the event and highlighted the importance of growing the game.

 

With this victory, Yin reaffirmed her place among the top players on the tour as she looks ahead to future tournaments.
