Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic Joins Sunshine Development Tour on Three-Year Deal

Posted : 09 October 2026

The Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic has secured a three-year agreement to join the Sunshine Development Tour (SDT), marking another important step in the expansion of professional golf across West Africa. The tournament will feature on the Tour’s calendar from 2026 through 2028, with Lakowe Lakes Golf Club in Lagos serving as its host venue.

The inaugural edition is scheduled for November 18 to 21, 2026. More than 100 leading African professional golfers are expected to compete for a confirmed prize purse of $25,000. The tournament will provide players with another opportunity to test their skills against strong continental opposition.

The agreement follows the successful staging of the Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic, which concluded on October 4. Ghanaian golfer Vincent Torgah claimed the title after defeating the challenge of Nigeria’s Kamalu Bako in a sudden-death playoff. Bako had produced an impressive final-round performance to force the contest into extra holes.

Sunshine Development Tour Chief Executive Officer David Udungu welcomed the addition of the Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic. He said the growing number of international tournaments in Nigeria would benefit the country's professional players and support the development of the sport.

“Nigeria is gradually becoming a hub for professional golf, and the commitment shown by the management of Alpha Bravo is helping to drive that growth. The players will be the biggest beneficiaries of this initiative,” Udungu said.

Tonbara Okoria, Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Bravo Integrated Services, said the partnership reflected the company's commitment to creating sustainable opportunities for professional golfers. He also highlighted the alignment between the company's ambitions and the Tour's goal of identifying and developing talent across Africa.

Organisers are also working to ensure that the tournament meets the standards expected of an international professional golf event. Uche Isikaku said preparations would cover registration, officiating and other essential aspects of tournament delivery.

“We are committed to delivering a World Class experience at the event, with registration, officiating and other key aspects being handled professionally,” Isikaku said.

Femi Olagbenro of Lakowe Lakes Golf Club said the agreement supported the venue's broader efforts to attract corporate investment into professional golf development in Nigeria. The tournament will follow the October Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic, giving the venue two Sunshine Development Tour events within a short period.

The three-year commitment offers greater continuity for players, sponsors and organisers. It also strengthens Nigeria's position in the Tour's expanding West African programme, creating additional competitive opportunities for local professionals while attracting golfers from other African countries.
