As the countdown narrows to just five days, attention is steadily shifting toward Amputee Football as one of the standout attractions of the upcoming 3rd National Para Games in Abuja.

More than just a competition, the sport represents a powerful narrative of courage, adaptability, and excellence. Featuring athletes with lower limb amputations, Amputee Football delivers a unique blend of speed, technique, and tactical awareness.

Played in a seven-a-side format on a reduced pitch, the game demands exceptional coordination as players skillfully navigate the field using crutches while maintaining impressive control and balance.

This year's edition will see teams from across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory battle for honours in two medal events, highlighting the sport's expanding footprint nationwide.

All fixtures are scheduled to take place at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch, a venue expected to host high-energy encounters and emotionally charged moments.

Officials have expressed optimism about the quality and impact of the competition. Assistant Director of the Para Sports Department, Oladipupo Idowu, noted that the event goes beyond medals and rankings.

According to him, Amputee Football continues to redefine perceptions, offering athletes a platform to demonstrate resilience while inspiring a broader conversation around inclusivity in sports.

He also pointed to the rapid growth of para sports in Nigeria, emphasizing that this year's tournament could unveil talents capable of representing the country internationally.

The 3rd National Para Games, scheduled for March 26 to April 3, 2026, is expected to gather thousands of athletes in a celebration that blends competition with unity.

As anticipation builds, Amputee Football stands poised not only to entertain but to leave a lasting impression of determination and limitless potential.
