Umuahia will become the centre of Nigerian volleyball when the 2026 National Division 1 and 2 League Finals bring together the country's leading clubs from Nov. 12 to Nov. 22.
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), in partnership with the Abia State Government, will host the 11-day championship at the Umuahia Township Stadium, with men's and women's teams expected to compete for national honours.
The competition will provide participating clubs with an opportunity to test their strength against the country's best sides while seeking recognition within the domestic volleyball structure.
The hosting arrangement, backed by the administration of Gov. Alex Otti, reflects a joint commitment to expanding volleyball development and creating more competitive opportunities for athletes across the country.
Beyond determining the season's champions, the Division 1 and 2 finals are expected to strengthen the domestic league structure, improve the competitive standards of participating clubs and promote greater visibility for both men's and women's volleyball.
The choice of Umuahia as host city also provides Abia with an opportunity to showcase its capacity to stage major national sporting competitions while contributing to the growth of volleyball.
With the championship approaching, attention will focus on preparations by the organisers and participating clubs ahead of the decisive phase of the 2026 league season.
The NVBF is expected to announce further details, including participating teams and other competition arrangements, through its official communication channels.
The championship will mark an important moment for Nigerian volleyball, bringing the country's leading clubs together to compete for national honours while supporting the continued development and visibility of the sport.
