Nigeria’s Green Falcons have received a major sponsorship boost from Chappal Energies ahead of the 2025 Rugby League World Series in Canada.
Chappal Energies has reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment and national development through its sponsorship of Nigeria’s Women’s Rugby League team, the Green Falcons.
The support comes as the Falcons prepare for the 2025 Rugby League World Series in Canada, a crucial qualifier that will determine the final team for the 2026 Women’s Rugby League World Cup in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The tournament features Nigeria, Canada, Ireland, and Fiji, with the winner securing the last qualification spot for the global showpiece.
Nigeria’s participation represents a historic milestone, as the Green Falcons aim to become the first African nation to qualify for the Women’s Rugby League World Cup.
Mr. Ufoma Immanuel, Managing Director of Chappal Energies, said the sponsorship reflects the company’s belief in unlocking potential through opportunity.
“Belief, perseverance, and possibility are qualities we hold dear. We are proud to stand with the Falcons as they make history for Nigeria and Africa,” Immanuel said.
He added that the sponsorship is part of Chappal Energies’ social investment strategy, which focuses on empowerment, inclusion, and local capacity development.
“As the Falcons take flight, Chappal Energies celebrates their journey as a symbol of what’s possible when determination meets opportunity,” he added.
Abiodun Cole, Chairman of the Nigerian Rugby League, hailed the partnership as a defining moment for women’s sports in Nigeria.
“We carry the hopes of a nation and every girl who has ever been told she couldn’t. Chappal’s support reminds us that we are not alone,” Cole stated.
The Green Falcons will play their first World Series match on Tuesday, October 21, in Canada. Their qualification would mark a major milestone for African rugby and a significant step forward for women’s sports across the continent.
