2025 NYG: Kwara’s Teenage Star Wins Para Powerlifting Gold

Team Kwara’s rising star, Adebayo Ridwan Busayo, a JSS2 student of Government Day Secondary School, Ojagboro, made history at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba by winning gold in the Para Powerlifting event.

 

The youngster stunned spectators as he lifted 71kg, setting a new tournament record and outperforming all other contestants to claim the top prize.

 

After his victory, an emotional Adebayo credited his coach, Oladipo Omole, for his consistent support and mentorship. He dedicated the medal to his late parents and vowed to work towards representing Nigeria at international competitions in the future.

 

In the female category, Abdulkareem Muibat, a JSS1 student of Abata Babaoyo Junior Secondary School, also impressed with a solid effort, lifting 41kg to earn bronze.

 

The triumph added another medal to Team Kwara’s growing haul, underscoring the state’s rising influence at the Games.
