Day 3 of the 2025 Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) Super Cup at the Basketball Hall of Moshood Abiola Stadium delivered high drama, endurance battles, and standout performances, highlighted by a stunning comeback victory from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) women’s team over COAS Spikers.
In one of the tournament’s most gripping matches, Customs Ladies showcased resilience, tactical adjustments, and mental toughness to edge COAS Spikers 3–2 in a thrilling five-set encounter. COAS Spikers dominated early, winning the opening set 25–21 through coordinated attacks and solid defense, putting Customs under early pressure.
The response from Customs Ladies was emphatic. After splitting the first two sets, NCS elevated their game in the third set, overwhelming COAS with aggressive net play and improved court coverage to claim a commanding 25–15 win. COAS Spikers fought back to take the fourth set 25–23, forcing a decisive fifth set. However, the experience and composure of Customs Ladies prevailed as they dominated the tie-breaker 15–9, sealing a memorable comeback and asserting their title credentials.
Men’s Category: CNS Spikers Survive Marathon Battle
Earlier in the day, fans witnessed one of the longest and most intense matches of the competition, as CNS Spikers narrowly defeated Nigeria Correctional Service 3–2. The second set became an endurance test, stretching to an incredible 36–34 scoreline before CNS edged it. Despite Correctional Service taking the third and fourth sets, CNS held their nerve in the deciding set to win 15–8.
Set scores: 18–25, 34–36, 25–22, 25–22, 15–8.
Defence Spikers Impose Authority
In another men’s fixture, Defence Spikers delivered a confident performance to dispatch Life Camp 3–1. After dominating the first two sets, they dropped the third 21–25 but quickly regained control to close out the match.
Set scores: 25–19, 25–21, 21–25, 25–16.
