The Edo State Sports Commission Chairman, Amadi Enebulele has said yhat his commission would continue to do everything humanly possible to motivate their athletes for optimum performance.
nabulele stated this while chatting with Sports Journalists at the Cricket Pavilions at the ongoing National Sports Festival holding in Abeokuta, in Ogun State.
Moved by the men cricket team outing, Enabulele commended Team Edo’s performance so far, highlighting their dedication and the promising start to the Ogun Games
He emphasized the importance of teamwork, discipline, and dedication in achieving success at any big stage event as the national sports festival.
The chairman also restated that Edo State remains committed to excellence and will continue to motivate its athletes to get the best out of them.
Speaking further on the games, Enebulele said, "if Edo is not here, the competition is not complete.
``We all know that Edo state is the heartbeat of sports. Team Edo has come to this Ogun Games to make a statement as usual. We are here with quite a young team and we are sure of what they can do."
On the expectations of Edo State contingent, he said that Edo state, is known to be strong in kick boxing, cricket, Gymnastics ,Football and weightlifting.
"Cricket is one of the areas of our strength, including weightlifting Gymnastics Football and Kunful. We just finished our first match in Cricket which we won. They are the sports we dominate.
"For Edo state we have come purely to do sports and not politics because this is a sporting event. We came with our own monitoring team to make sure that everything is going well.
Enabulele commended the organizers of the Ogun Games. " I want to commend His Excellency the governor of Ogun state.
``I was here three weeks ago and after that coming to this place to see what they have achieved so far I think I must commend them for what they have done in terms of facilities.
"Also for the officiating, so far it's been fair though we have had one or two reasons to protest against some decisions in Kung Fu yesterday, I got a report that our girl did very well in the sport but we were so surprised that the result was given to another state, but we followed through the proper channel to make such complaints.
"We had our own target which we set for ourselves, and we want to keep it private but we are working seriously towards it.
On the rewards for podium finish athletes, Enabulele said that the state Government has promised to reward them handsomely.
"Before the athletes left the state, the deputy governor met with them on behalf of the governor and made some promises to them and we believe the government will keep their part if the athletes are able to do theirs.
Meanwhile, Edo state has harvested 32 medals; 4 Gold,14 silver and 14 Bronze medals..
Today, Wednesday promises to be busy with work with explosive contest as athletics events are expected to take center stage.
