2025 NBSL Finals: Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors Crowned Champions

Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors have been crowned 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) champions, defeating defending champions Kebbi Fishers BSC 5–3 in a dramatic penalty shootout following a pulsating 3–3 draw in regulation time at Jabi Lake Resort, Abuja.

The final drew top football dignitaries including NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi (MON), Beach Soccer & Futsal Committee Chairman Nse Udofot Essien, and NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen, alongside officials from the National Sports Commission and former FIFA referee Alex Mana.

The Cup holders Kebbi Fishers showed remarkable resilience, coming back from 1–3 down to force penalties. Goals for Kebbi came from Hassan Abdullahi, Taiwo Adams, and Hassan Muhammed, while Ekunjimi Eganosi, Peter Prosper, and Stanley Ekwo found the net for Anambra Warriors.

This victory marks the first league title for Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, putting them level with Kada BSC, who were champions in 2022. Kebbi Fishers remain the most decorated team in league history with three titles.

Several individual awards were presented:

  • Highest Goal Scorer: Frank Dozie (Kada BSC) – 14 goals
     

  • Best Goalkeeper: Segun Basorun (Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors)
     

  • Rising Star: Uwana Aniete (Ibom BSC)
     

  • Most Valuable Player: Stanley Ekwo (Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors)
     

Speaking at the final, NFF President Gusau commended all teams for their sportsmanship and dedication, emphasizing the league’s role in promoting beach soccer and nurturing talent across Nigeria.

“This year’s league has been a remarkable display of exceptional talent and competitive spirit. Congratulations to Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors on their historic triumph, and we encourage all teams to continue striving for excellence,” he said.

The 2025 NBSL season has showcased Nigeria’s rising talent in beach soccer, highlighting the sport’s growing popularity and competitiveness nationwide.
